Easter Seals Capital Region & Eastern Connecticut, Inc is pleased to announce the development of line of business that will enhance not only our client’s quality of life, but will have a positive effect on our communities as a whole. Starting in November of 2008 with the award of a Federal Government contract, we have begun document destruction operations under the name of EnviroShred.
Several new positions are being developed for this business that will be manned by our clients. The first and most visible is that of the Customer Service Representative that will be assigned to each truck as helper and ambassador. The second position will be that of Inspector who will be responsible for the content of product going to the shredder. In time, a third position as Lead will be developed to assist the Supervisor with the movement of materials through the operation.
For the environment, each ton of paper we recycle, it saves 17 trees, 100 gallons of gas, 60 pounds of air
pollutants, 7,000 gallons of water and 4,200 kilowatt-hours of electricity.
In addition to document destruction, EnviroShred will collect office recyclables, corrugated cardboard, X-Ray film, magazines and newspapers. Future plans are to include hard drive destruction into this business with the acquisition of equipment that meets the Department of Defense requirements.
